I am going to overweight my position in Mortgage REIT. It has value for investors during periods of heightened market volatility. Shares are priced at a discount to accounting book value. An investment in the stock yields 12.2 percent.
I am going to increase my position in mortgage real estate investment trust Annaly Capital Management, Inc. (NLY) this week in light of increasing market volatility. Annaly Capital Management's shares have held up extremely well during the December stock market meltdown (like they have during past market turmoil), and the mortgage REIT has a compelling risk/reward for income investors. Shares can still be bought for a discount to the last reported accounting book value, and an investment in NLY comes with a juicy 12.2 percent dividend yield.
