Realty Income (NYSE:O) has carved a nice niche out for itself as a rock solid dividend payer. Investors in this commercial real estate investment trust have enjoyed the benefits of growing dividend income, and there are probably more than just a few investors who would call Realty Income "the best dividend stock on Wall Street". The "monthly dividend company" really earned its reputation. And that reputation becomes even more valuable when the economy and the stock market are heading for a period of volatility and uncertainty.
Realty Income really is a "no-worries" income investment. The REIT churns out cash on a consistent basis and has done so for decades. It is REITs like this one that investors would want to own when times get tough and dividend safety is shooting up on investors' priority lists. Realty Income is a "Buy" nearly every day, but especially when any of the doomsday scenarios mentioned here becomes a reality.
