Yield (dividend/price) results from Yahoo Finance as of market closing prices August 5 for Business Development Company Stocks listed here were compared by dog metrics to reveal three actionable conclusions discussed below. After June 2014, when the Acquired Fund Fees and Expenses (AFFE) proviso of the SEC prompted both Russell and S&P 500 to remove 40 BDC dogs from their primary equity indices, it became appropriate to track BDC puppy progress as a pack. This is one more such progress report.
Top BDC industry stock by yield, TICC Capital (NASDAQ:TICC) [1], was one of four of the top ten BDC dogs by yield that did not disclose their investment targets. Other non-disclosing companies placed fifth, seventh, and eighth: Prospect Capital (NASDAQ:PSEC) [5]; Stellus Capital Investment (NYSE:SCM) [7]; and Horizon Technology (NASDAQ:HRZN) [8]. Second place firm Oxford Lane Capital (NASDAQ:OXLC) [2] invests in corporate Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) instruments. KCAP Financial (NASDAQ:KCAP) [3] is another CLO investor.
