I also use an older standard IRA for a few DRIP stocks as well. I'm now embarking on whether I sell and pay tax now in order to "exempt taxes for life" by rolling it over into next year's beginning window for my ROTH IRA, especially since the tax to be paid will be spread over 2011 and 2012. I appreciate you can't do it all the time, or even more than some of the time - it'd get dull - but still it's really refreshing when a US blogger notes there is life beyond the US' shores. (I understand the US population dwarfs old England and so the temptation to just write for the US must be high).

UK Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2371295367923834063.post-5969115212072622782008-04-04T00:29:00.000-05:002008-04-04T00:29:00.000-05:00Thanks for the reponse Dividends4Life. In my Roth IRA domestic (U.S.) dividends are for the most part never taxed. There are some special rules for certain tax-advantaged dividends (REITs, MLPs, etc.) where they may be taxable at certain levels. But for "normal" dividends you receive from corporations, they are never taxed.

Best Wishes,
D4LAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2371295367923834063.post-54230336982631053452008-04-03T16:47:00.000-05:002008-04-03T16:47:00.000-05:00Jason,Yes, dividends are taxed in US at a rate of ...Jason,

Yes, dividends are taxed in US at a rate of up to 15% depending on your annual income even if you reinvest them.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11197290990687067072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2371295367923834063.post-70552968575522975352008-04-03T14:16:00.000-05:002008-04-03T14:16:00.000-05:00that's what I thought you meant..thanks for explai...that's what I thought you meant..thanks for explainingMG (moneygardener)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09118524634677340463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2371295367923834063.post-38585909741336656242008-04-03T12:09:00.000-05:002008-04-03T12:09:00.000-05:00What are tax implications for dividends earned in ...What are tax implications for dividends earned in an Individual Account?
